It started when a cell tower was installed 200 meters from our house. Headaches, then insomnia so severe I didn’t sleep for four days straight. Then the tinnitus. My husband thought I was losing my mind. Maybe I was. Then the chemical sensitivity followed — fragrances, cleaners, new materials. My doctor said electromagnetic hypersensitivity ‘doesn’t exist.’ My symptoms don’t care what my doctor believes.
We moved to a rural property with no cell towers within 3km. The house is partially shielded with Yshield paint and grounding fabric on the bedroom walls. My kids can’t have phones or tablets in the house. They’re 8 and 11. Try explaining that to their friends’ parents.
No doctor in Ontario will diagnose EHS. It’s not in their diagnostic manual. I exist in a medical no-man’s land. The MCS part they grudgingly acknowledge. The EHS part they attribute to anxiety.
