Purpose
ImACanary.com is a structured, searchable story registry — not a forum. There are no comments, no debates, no arguments. We exist so people affected by environmental sensitivities can find others who understand what they’re going through.
What Belongs Here
Personal experiences told in your own voice. What happened to you, how it affected your life, what helped. Stories should reflect what you experienced — not declare disputed mechanisms as proven fact.
- Yes: “What helped me was…” · “I experienced…” · “My doctor suggested…”
- No: “This cures MCS” · “Everyone should do…” · “Doctors are all lying”
What’s Not Allowed
- No street addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses in stories
- No full names of private individuals (public figures in news context are okay)
- No accusations of crimes or intent (“they poisoned me on purpose”)
- No medical advice, cure claims, or supplement dosing protocols
- No profanity, harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory language
- No selling, product promotion, affiliate links, or MLM mentions
- No content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits minors
Neutral Tone Standard
We validate lived experience without claiming medical certainty. Environmental sensitivities are real and debilitating — and the science is still evolving. We hold space for that complexity by keeping stories personal rather than polemical.
Moderation
All stories from new accounts are reviewed by a human moderator before publishing. We check for private information, naming of individuals, medical claims, profanity, and harassment. We may edit stories for safety reasons (like removing an accidentally-included address). After you establish trust with approved stories, publishing may happen more quickly.
Reporting
If you see a story that concerns you, use the Report button on the story page. Reports are reviewed promptly. Stories flagged for containing private information or medical advice are automatically held for review.
Your Data
Your email address is never displayed publicly. Your display name defaults to “Anonymous Canary” unless you change it. We store only your country and region — never your street address. See our Terms & Privacy Policy for full details.
Flock Groups Conduct
When Flock Groups launch, these additional guidelines apply: No cross-talk during sharing rounds (listen, don’t advise). No recording, screenshotting, or quoting other members outside the group. One person speaks at a time. The facilitator’s format decisions are final. If you disagree with a facilitation choice, raise it after the session — not during. Repeated violations result in removal from the group, not just a warning. These aren’t suggestions. They’re what makes the room safe.
Product Recommendation Standards
When recommending products: Only recommend products you have personally used for at least 30 days. No affiliate links, discount codes, or promotional content. No MLM/network marketing products. Products must be verifiable (real retailer listing). “This worked for me” is welcome. “Everyone should use this” is not. If a product stops working for you or you discover a problem, update your recommendation.
