I have not been further than my garden gate since the autumn of 2021. It is not agoraphobia, though that is on my notes, added by a GP who saw me for eleven minutes. It is that the school across the road runs a diesel minibus, the neighbours dry laundry with scented sheets, and the corner shop has a plug-in air freshener by the till. Any one of those puts me in bed for two days. My world is four rooms and a strip of lawn. I am forty-three. I was a district nurse. People ask what I do all day and I never know how to answer without watching their face change.
This is a personal experience, not medical advice. ImACanary.com makes no causation claims.
