Founding Story

This is a Founding Story — built from real canary experience patterns. Read how our stories work →

It crept up on me over years. A headache here. Nausea there. By 2013 it was constant. Every public space was an assault — cleaning products in shops, perfume in offices, diesel fumes on the high street. Scotland is damp and moldy and everything is closed up and heated with gas. There is no safe public space in Glasgow for someone like me.

Council housing. I can’t choose my own flat. The last one had damp in every wall. Filed complaints for two years before they moved me. The new one has a neighbor who smokes and it comes through the shared wall. I seal the wall with plastic sheeting. I know how that sounds.

The NHS doesn’t have a pathway for MCS. My GP is kind but helpless. The disability assessment was humiliating — they asked if I’d tried ‘not thinking about it.’

This is a personal experience, not medical advice. ImACanary.com makes no causation claims.

Stay with the flock.
