It began with solvents at work and became something wider. Now it is cleaning products, then screens for long stretches, then certain buildings for reasons I cannot isolate. I am careful how I describe the second and third of those because I have watched a doctor’s face close mid-sentence. So I say chemical sensitivity and stop talking, even though my actual experience does not stop there. I suspect many of us are editing ourselves in the same direction, which means the record of this condition is quieter than the truth of it.
